Be present as the PPO opens the season with gems of the French repertoire. The PPO presents violist Sayaka Kokubo of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, who performs the symphony/viola concerto of Berlioz entitled Harold in Italy (based on Byron's Childe Harold's Pilgrimage). Other works are the two rarely performed Pastorale d'Été of Honegger and the surrealist ballet Le Boeuf sur le Toit of Milhaud, which is influenced by Brazilian popular music and rhythm. The concert wraps up with Ravel's well-loved Boléro.

A sleeping princess, a spellbound Prince and more fairies than you can shake a stick at are all part of this quirky adaptation of the popular tale. The evil Trollarina exacts her revenge on the royal family by sending the beautiful Princess Melisande into an everlasting sleep, but little does she realize more than one spell is about to be broken by the kiss of an enchanted Faun.

A new look at an old, old tale: she is not only the spellbound beauty, the Prince is an enchanted Faun, and his kisses release more than one spell, to the dismay of the wicked Fairy Trollarina. Another children's musical from the Prince Street Players. Songs include "I'm So Mad," "It's Lovely To Be A Troll" and "Spinning Song."
