About the Show:
A joint project of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Ballet Philippines, the CCP Choreographer’s Cup is a dance competition on neo-classical choreography with the theme: “The Ideal Woman”. It is open to all working and aspiring choreographers who are interested to explore new choreography based on classical ballet technique. The competition is divided into the Junior Category (for 23 years old and below) and Senior Category (for 24 to 45 years old) where a competitor performs a 3-6 minute piece either for solo, duet, trio or quartet. Finalists will be given a two-week residency with allowance at the CCP to collaborate with dancers of Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater and Ballet Manila for their competition piece. Selected winning pieces will be showcased in major productions at the CCP. Champion Choreographers get the chance to be recommended to international dance festivals and competitions.
