On June 2, at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, Cultural Center of the Philippines, the new Ambassador Luca Fornari and wife Silvana Novelli will commemorate the Republic Day of Italy by hosting a gala concert of Italy’s best and arguably most famous violinist, Uto Ughi, accompanied by another accomplished musician, pianist Alessandro Specchi.
This rare, top-notch showcase of Italian artistry and vivacity is open for all music lovers and society watchers to experience. The breathtaking lineup includes all three movements of Beethoven’s long and intensely emotional “Sonata op 47 in La Maggiore,” better known as the “Kreutzer” Sonata; the darkly sweet “Fantasia Su Temi del Faust op 20” by Wieniawski; the more familiar, brisk etude from Paganini entitled “La Campanella”; and “Introduzione e Rondò capriccioso” by Camille Saint-Saens.
“Programma tour Asia Maggio-Giugno 2010” featuring Uto Ughi and Alessandro Specchi at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo CCP Main Theater is open to the public. Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis through the CCP office. Call 02-8321125 loc. 1800 (Susan Ortiz). Formal dress code is applied. Show starts at 8:00 p.m.

Thanks to Tita Elvie of CCP who got me and my friends some tickets to this event (last minute nakakuha pa kami =). Now I know that when embassies sponsor a CCP show, there's free buffet dinner (food and drinks popular in their respective countries... in this case Italian!... yum yum). So it's best to come at least one hour before the show to enjoy the sumptuous free feast =)
