A Dialogue of Music: Marc Velasco & Javier Álvarez Concert at Instituto Cervantes on July 3, 2012
A Dialogue of Music: Marc Velasco & Javier Álvarez Concert
Two singers, two languages, Spanish and Chabacano, will merge in a dialogue of music styles. Spain’s Javier Álvarez and Zamboangueño Marc Velasco will perform at the Instituto Cervantes Salón de Actos. Spanish singer Javier Alvarez was born in Madrid in the neighborhood of Cuatro Caminos. He began his career as a musician in the subway and the Retiro Park in Madrid, then to bars and cafes. His musical influences came from pop: ABBA, Michael Jackson, James Taylor and The Eagles. In his first concert in Manila he will also feature his new compositions alongside several of his classic ones. Álvarez will be joined by Zamboangueño singer-songwriter Marc Velasco, whose single "Ordinary Song" became a top hit in 2000. Currently he is preparing his first album in Chabacano.
