Generations of audiences have enjoyed this perennial Christmas favorite, a charming tale of holiday adventure that follows a little girl’s journey through a fantasy world of fairies, princes, toy soldiers, and an army of mice. Featuring Tchaikovsky’s most beloved music, including “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Waltz of the Snowflakes."

The CCP Choreographer's Cup for Neo-Classical Choreography Deadline of Entries on June 15, 2011

CCP Choreographer's Cup

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Ballet Philippines are proud to announce the CCP Choreographer’s Cup for neo-classical choreography scheduled on July 8-10, 2011 at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater).

Theme : “The Ideal Woman”

Categories:
Junior Category – 23 years old and below
Senior Category - 24 to 45 years old

Competition Piece: 3 to 6 minutes (for solo, duet, trio or quartet)

Residency: Two weeks residency at the CCP working with dancers of Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater and Ballet Manila. Finalists will receive allowances during their residency. Regional finalists will be provided with free accommodation.

1st Prize 20,000 plus Choreographer’s “Cup”
2nd Prize 15,000 plus Plaque
3rd Prize 10,000 plus Plaque

Junior Category
1st Prize 15,000 plus Choreographer’s “Cup”
2nd Prize 10,000 plus Plaque
3rd Prize 5,000 plus Plaque


Selected winning pieces will be showcased in major productions at the CCP. Champion Choreographers get the chance to be recommended to International Dance Festivals and Competitions.

Deadline for submission of entries is June 15, 2011 (Wednesday).

Choreographers Herbert Alvarez, Novy Bereber, Stanley Cañete, and Brezhnev Larlar explore themes of Filipino courtship and romance in four bold, new neo-classical ballets: pieces nostalgic of the distinct eras they are set to and which are by turns funny, tragic, solemn, and charming. The new works dare PBT’s young crop of dancers to show off their versatility and their artistry. Laugh, cry and fall in love anew with the Philippine Ballet theater in this rich celebration of tradition, movement, music, and above all, love.
